Lunch Is Served For NZ Book Month Winners!
NZ Book Month is delighted to announce the winners of the Lunch Pack Competition for 2008. The NZ Book Month initiative allowed kiwi kids to tell New Zealand what they really thought of our top 25 books, which were carefully selected by the Storylines Children’s Literature Charitable Trust.
Primary and Intermediate schools interviewed NZ authors and reviewed a selection of books. Reviews and interviews by kids were sent in via text form, illustration and on video.
Students from Laingholm Primary School, Kohia Terrace School, Remuera Intermediate, Ficino School, Papatoatoa Intermediate, and Hampden Street School in Nelson have officially been announced as the winners of the Lunch Pack competition. The student’s outstanding creativity and involvement in NZ Book Month 2008 has secured them the coveted prizes.
“There was a great range of quality entries from around New Zealand, our winners show the variety and diversity of the schools that got involved in NZ Book Month this year.” Michele Powles, Festival Director
The winners of the group sections have won a set of the top 25 Kiwi kids books for their school library. Winners of the individual sections have won a $100 Booksellers token. And each lucky class of ALL the winners (both individual and group entries) will receive a Tip Top ice-cream!
The Lunch Pack awards will be presented at the Lunch Pack Prize giving with a special Duffy Books in Homes assembly on Wednesday September 24 at the Auckland Civic Theatre. Attending the ceremony will be Warriors representatives, the legendary TV presenter Suzy Cato, ex Silver Fern Linda Vagana and many more New Zealand celebrities. New Zealand Hip Hop champions Prestige Dance Crew will be putting on a breathtaking performance.
Studio 2 has also joined the celebration by inviting the Lunch Pack winners into the studio after the award ceremony to be involved in on-air filming - they will be world famous in NZ!
NZ Book Month continues to rock through September!
