Fashion Week: Adrian Hailwood Does Sex-Kitten To Perfection

There is one man in New Zealand that does sex-kitten to perfection – Adrian Hailwood. From cute denim rock'n'roll-style dresses, to prim and proper high-necked dresses, Hailwood showed a collection that that was dirty, glamorous and sweet all at the same time…
Dirty, glamorous and sweet is a hard combination to pull off, but a killer if you can do it in the manner that Hailwood does. Hailwood’s quirky prints could very well be THE prints of Fashion Week this year – check the photos out to see them for yourself.

Hailwood designs for the style conscious New Zealand woman – he knows what she likes to wear and this time round he has given her a wardrobe of garments that she can mix and match and dress up or down – case in point being his pouffy ra-ra skirts, paired with casual, baggy, relaxed printed t-shirts.
Hailwood designs serious fashion statement dresses – and there is something for every woman in this collection – check the punk-like pointed bustières, or go for a more demure sleeved shift dress and beautiful textured fabrics.
The colour palette is dark – think denim, textured black, rich navy and glossy grey, with the occasional burnt bronze, fresh white, soft cream and royal blue emerging to freshen things up.
Floppy hats set the scene, as did kid gloves - this is Hailwood: The Grown Up – and we love it.
Hair was sides parted and slicked back, and makeup was simple – after all, who needs big hair when you have a fabulous frock to show off!
Kiwi guys out there will be pleased with the small selection of menswear that Hailwood sent down the runway – skinny pants, sweatshirt leggings, perfectly cut jerseys and parkas - a great accompaniment to an already perfect womenswear range.
