Award Winning Film Second-Hand Wedding Recycled For A Second Season At Coastlands Cinema
SECOND-HAND WEDDING released in cinemas across the country on May 15. It won the hearts of New Zealand movie goers, was
a phenomenal success at the New Zealand box office and now it has achieved award winning status - scooping two major
awards at the Qantas Film and Television Awards held on Friday September 12.
Geraldine Brophy deservedly won the award for Performance by an Actress in a leading role in Film and rising star Holly
Shanahan won the award for Performance by an Actress in a supporting role in Film, at the Qantas Film and Television
Awards.
Winning these awards has put this charming New Zealand film back in the spotlight in Wellington, where the story was
based and the film was shot. Reading Coastlands have announced they will bring SECOND-HAND WEDDING back for a very
limited second season. It will be screening at 1 o’clock each day, with night session on Sunday and Monday.

Geraldine Brophy shines in her role as bargain-hunting junkie, Jill. Most remembered for her role as Moira Crombie from
New Zealand’s best loved drama Shortland Street. Multi talented Geraldine is also heavily involved in the New Zealand
theatre scene with directing, producing and acting. In her subsequent 22 years in the industry she has played more than
150 roles on stage.
Holly Shanahan plays Jills daughter Cheryl (named after the icon NZ song Cheryl Moana Marie) who is planning her wedding
to partner Stew. Holly says of her role, “Cheryl starts off as a fairly simple, down to earth woman but as the story
unfolds she has to confront issues she’s had since childhood. Whether she is equipped to deal with them and how she
does, is what makes her character challenging.”
