Jigsaw Celebrates Extra-Ordinary Dads
Jigsaw Family Services marked the launch of their “extra-ordinary Dads” campaign on Fathers Day in Wellington.
Tau Huirama, Jigsaw CEO Strategic Relationships, explained the larger campaign is aimed at celebrating Dads all year round and not just on Fathers Day, “there isn’t much positive imaging of Dads in the community and this campaign showcases Dads from all walks of life sharing their stories of what being a Dad means to them.”
Men are inclined to isolate themselves and it is not common for men to get together and talk about being a Dad. The extra-ordinary Dad’s campaign is about sparking conversations about being a Dad and giving visibility to those who walk the walk.
Mike McRoberts of TV3 and Cory Jane of the Vodafone Wellington Lions are the first two Dads to be featured as part of this national campaign. “Of all the things I do, [being a Dad] is probably the most important job to have”, said Mike McRoberts recently from Auckland.
Jigsaw Family Services is a national organisation focused on preventing family violence and child abuse, and promoting the safety and wellbeing of all New Zealand children and their families.
