Money fell from the sky in the ‘V’ $100K virtual money throw!
The sky rained money this week as The People’s Republic of ‘V’ threw $100,000 all over the web. The first event of its
kind, it was some time in the making but it finally happened on Monday evening causing mayhem and madness for all those
involved!
The ‘V’ $100K virtual money throw capped off a week of fun, drama and fierce competition where competitors had to play
an online game to find the fastest possible route from their house through a virtual world to a field where the money
throw would take place.
The object of the game was to sprint to the park in the fastest possible time with the fastest 2,000 people scoring a
spot on the field. The faster the time, the greater the chance to win the most cash.
Jay Harland from Christchurch took out the top spot with a phenomenal time of 15.8 seconds. Close to half a million
games were played with the average time spent on line being half an hour.
``We loved the virtual concept from the outset. The idea of throwing money all over the web appealed to us as it was
crazy, loads of fun and innovative – all the things that ‘V’ represents. We had a phenomenal response to the game and
were really excited to see the intense level of competition on the Vrepublic site. One guy played the game over 5,000
times to try and improve his time. That is serious commitment!,’’ said ‘V’ Marketing Manager Iaan Buchanan.
