Yule Aaaarrrggh!!!
Disparate Pop (Scandal Street Records - LP-001)
My name is Yule. Sometimes I write songs. Sometimes I also record them. I don't often let my songs outside of my house but a few of them are ready to discover the world now, so I am letting them out to meet people like you.
I have made a CD called "Aaaarrrggh!!!" from some of my songs. I recorded and mixed these songs at my North Dunedin and Grey Lynn flats between 2004 – 2008. One day the songs got Mastered at York Street Studios by Chris Winchcombe. They feel all special now.
Each of the songs I wrote on "Aaaarrrggh!!!" tries to be different from the other songs on "Aaaarrggh!!!", but they all get along. They are all fun songs, but some of them have a darker idea of fun than others. I think it is because some of the songs are more grown up than the other songs. The grown up songs' idea of fun might be making out at the back of a Quentin Tarantino movie or poking a dead dog with a stick but the little songs would probably have more fun on a jungle gym or in the sand pit.
In 2006 two of my songs escaped from my house. One of them 'Night Night' got caught by Loop Recordings who displayed it on their Air New Zealand Fashion Week CD. The other one 'General Dislike' enjoyed its time in the fresh air sitting at the number one spot on the Radio One (Dunedin) Top 11 and hung around for five weeks. It was also displayed on the Radio One 2006 CD Sampler.
As the songs got older they started contemplating sex and violence a little more than they should. I think they turned out okay though, except for one which has issues (I think is because it is short). That one's a recluse though, so you might never meet it.
I now have a band who plays with the songs with me. Some of them used to be in "One Million Dollars". We all have fun with the songs. Sometimes it is dark fun. You should come and have dark fun with us too sometime. Have a Lovely Day Yule www.myspace.com/yulenz
