The NZ Music Managers Forum are pleased to confirm details for the 2008 NZ Music Managers Summit visiting Christchurch, Wellington and Auckland from 7th September – 11th September.
The theme of this years summit ‘HOW TO TAKE YOUR BAND TO THE NEXT LEVEL’ is providing an exciting line up of guest speakers and opportunities for NZ music managers. The Summit will give managers a chance to share and learn from the experiences of others through seminars, one-on-one mentoring sessions and the exclusive opportuniity for managers to pitch their artists for Big Day out 2008.
PITCH YOUR BAND FOR BIG DAY OUT 2008
Barry Blackler from Big Day Out will be available for one on one ‘pitching sessions’. This is a very unique opportunity for managers to pitch their band(s) to play at the 2009 Big Day Out.

Midday– 4.00pm. Registration is from 11.45am on the day. First come first serve.
Christchurch – Monday 8th September at DUX DE LUX

Wellington – Thursday 11th September at HOLIDAY INN
5.00pm-7.00pm. Registration is from 4.45pm on the day. First come first serve.
PLANNING SESSIONS
One on one mentoring/planning sessions with hugely experienced local managers – all with international experience.will be available in Chch, Wellington and Auckland.
Watch a marketing plan unfold on the spot for a selected MMF band. See how they work with the band to put together a plan that covers marketing, promotion and steps that helps them to get to the next level.
This sesson is open to the public and MMF Members.
Auckland - Lorraine Barry
Sunday 7th September at APRA. Midday – 1.30pm
As director of International Marketing for Virgin Music Group, based in the UK, Lorraine Barry helped shape the careers of hundreds of international artists, including Massive Attack, Smashing Pumpkins, Placebo, Gomez, the Verve and the global phenomenon that was the Spice Girls.
In her new homeland of New Zealand she now manages Dave Dobbyn, The Electric Confectionaires, Lucid3, Dukes and Mark Vanilau.
Christchurch - Neil Cox
Monday 8th September at DUX DE LUX. 5pm - 6.00pm
Neil Cox worked in Senior Marketing Management positions for EMI, Warner and BMG Music in UK, Australia, South Africa and NZ promoting artists like Paul McCartney, Crowded House, Radiohead, Blur, Foo Fighters & Eurythmics
Now based in Christchurch, Neil has toured many NZ & International bands and is now Promoter of the annual Southern Amp Music Festival and Chairman of CHART (The Chch Music Industry Trust).
Wellington – Teresa Patterson
Thursday 11th September. 5pm – 6.00pm at HOLIDAY INN
Teresa Patterson worked for Polygram Records (now Universal Music) for 5 years in sales, promotions and marketing, and then for Virgin Records as Label Manager. For the last 6 years she has been a partner in CRS Management where she manages Scribe, Elemeno P, Carly Binding, The Have and Tyra  Hammond. Teresa is also a freelance publicist, working on a variety of projects including the  marketing and publicity for the Big Day Out.
PANEL DISCUSSION - HOW TO GET YOUR BAND TO THE NEXT LEVEL
Industry specialists will be on panel discussing, debating, suggesting and answering your questions on their thoughts on the best ways to get your band to the next level. The 2 hour panel discussion will cover inital planning, sponsorship, marketing, promotion and touring – all the information that every manager needs to know in this ever changing world of music.

UK MUSIC MANAGER
The MMF in conjunction with the NZ Music Commission is excited to welcome UK music manager Peter Jenner (Billy Bragg, Pink Floyd, The Clash, T Rex).  Jenner is speaking in Auckland, Wellington and Chch as part of the Warrant of Fitness seminar. He will draws upon his forty years in the industry, sharing insights gained from his extensive client roster over the period, and discussing the digital music landscape  including the issues posed by (and his thoughts on the solutions to) unauthorised filesharing.
