Great Chefs of Wellington to help disadvantaged Kiwi kids
Five top chefs of Wellington will use their culinary skills to help raise $100,000 to give Kiwi kids living in poverty a
better chance in life.
The Great Chefs of Wellington Charity Dinner which will take place at the Duxton Hotel, Wellington on 30th August will
feature a delicious degustation menu, fine wine and great entertainment for the 300 invited guests.
For the past ten years, legal firm, Minter Ellison Rudd Watts and the Duxton Hotel have provided guests with a unique
experience in aid of a good cause. The KidsCan StandTall Charitable Trust has been chosen as the new beneficiary. The
Trust meets the basic physical and nutritional needs of disadvantaged children in New Zealand through its Raincoats for
Kids, Food for Kids, Shoes for Kids programmes.
“We aim to raise $100,000 through this great event which will enable us to give crucial support to the 13 Wellington
area schools that are currently on our waiting list to receive our three programmes. We are working hard to make a
tangible difference in Kiwi kids lives while also leveling the playing field to ensure these at risk children reach
their full potential” says KidsCan StandTall General Manager, Julie Helson.
The 5 chefs taking part are: Adam Newell from Zibibbo, Tom Hutchison from Capitol, Rex Morgan from Citron, Steve Morris
from Bisque on Bolton and Stephanie D’Mello from the Duxton. Each chef will prepare one of the 5 courses served. Each
sumptuous course will be matched with an appropriate fine wine.
KidsCan StandTall has distributed 24,000 adidas All Blacks branded raincoats, 3,000 pairs of shoes, 6,000 pairs of socks
and 240,000 food items. The organisation currently feeds 7,000 New Zealand children each week at school and there are
now 100 schools and 20,000 children on the waiting list.
