Whitireia Polytechnic Hosts Film Night
“Imagine a silent Charlie Chaplin flick with live piano noodling, but instead it’s contemporary world cinema with Whitireia Community Polytechnic pit bands rocking out” says Music Programme Manager Dan Adams.
This week, three screenings with live bands are recapturing some of the mojo of the movies: Wednesday 6 August and Thursday 7 August (both at 12pm), and Friday 8 August at 7pm.
These are like three themed audio-visual concerts, music bands and composers are performing their own original music scores to a range of films. I hope you can join us for some midwinter movie magic!” Says Adams.
All the screenings are on the main Whitireia Community Polytechnic campus in Porirua, opposite The Warehouse in room C235. Entry is free.
The Programme:
Wednesday 6 August. 12-1pm. ‘Into The Great Wide Open’. Extreme nature documentaries accompanied with live original music. Free entry. Room C235 aka M1.
Thursday 7 August. 12-1.30pm. ‘Everything Is Illuminated’. World cinema showcase accompanied with live original music. Free entry. M1. Room C235 aka M1.
Friday 8 August. 7-9:20pm. ‘The Science Of Sleep’. Full length feature film by French director Michel Gondry accompanied with live original music. Free entry. M1. Room C235 aka M1.
