The All Blacks’ Good Luck Charm
When Tim Beveridge sings the national anthem at the Bledisloe Cup match this Saturday at Eden Park, he’ll be hoping to make it seven from seven for the All Blacks.
The All Blacks have won all six games that Beveridge has sung the anthem for over the past six years.
Beveridge says that out of all the things he has performed in over his career, singing the anthem at an All Black test is hard to beat for excitement and intensity. “It’s absolutely surreal. The biggest kick I get out of it is being in the middle of this tribal intensity and hearing the roar from the crowd. I think it’s best to always do it a capella and let the crowd be the soundtrack,” he says.
The All Black’s winning matches at which Tim has performed:
• 20 July 2002 – Springboks at the Caketin – Won 41 - 20
• 16 August 2003 – Bledisloe Cup – Eden Park– Won 21-17
• 9 July 2005 – Lions 3rd Test – Eden Park – Won 48 - 18
• 3 September 2005 Final Bledisloe Cup 2005 – Eden Park – Won 34-24
• 19 August 2006 – Bledisloe cup 3rd test Eden Park – Won 34-27¬¬
• 2 June 2007 AB’s v France – Eden Park – Won 42-11
