Ginger Nut Jumping In To Record Books
Mike Heard, long suffering ginga and Bungy Jumping nut, will attempt to jump into the Guinness World Records from 6am,
Friday 15 August under the Auckland Harbour Bridge from the AJ Hackett Bungy Pod.
The current record for the 'Most Bungy Jumps in 24 hours' is held by Bill Boshoff (South Africa) who performed 101 Bungy
Jumps in 14 hr 23 min at Bloukrans River Bridge, South Africa on 10 May 2002.
Mike’s love of the sport is the central reason for the attempt. ``I’d like to see more people giving it a go. Bungy
Jumping shouldn’t be one of those sports you try once just to cross off your list of things to do before you die -
people should try it once and then try it again and again and again!’’ said Mike.
As part of his preparation, strict guidelines from the Guinness World Records™ organisation must be followed. This
includes preparation of his Bungy Cord, which will be carried out with an official witness present.
``I love the sport and think everyone should give it a go. AJ Hackett Bungy have developed the Code of Practise for
Bungy Jumping and they have a 100% safety record to keep up with the high standards. I am going to prove that this sport
is not only a huge rush but it is also very safe’’, says Mike - who already has 50 jumps under his belt.
AJ Hackett Bungy - Auckland has been working very closely with Mike to make sure his health is up to scratch and that
he’s ready to smash the world record.
Mike’s attempt will be used to raise funds for the “Cure Kids” charity and is supported by the team at AJ Hackett Bungy
