Females Rider’s Rejoice for Girl’s Night In
A night dedicated specifically for girls riding in New Zealand, has attracted interested from around the country. Girl’s
Night In is being held at Base, in Wanaka and local mountains and team riders for leading ski and snowboard brands have
all jumped on board to participate.
Girls Night In will be held on July 2nd, providing girls that want to know the snow with the knowledge to begin their
exciting winter season.
Chris Walsh, a Director of Base, believes this is a great opportunity to support girls riding, as it is a large part of
the market and a strong focus at Base.
“Wanaka is considered a significant centre of the snow industry in New Zealand and we are interested in helping the
girls to make the most of their time on the snow this season. Representatives from all the local mountains are joining
us for the night, and we are lucky to have female riders coming down from teams such as Salomon, and Rojo,” he says.
The evening follows on from the success of last year’s event, with over 50 girls securing their places as soon as the
event was announced.
“Last year we were overwhelmed with the response we had to our evening. We want to continue to working women and provide
them with an opportunity to meet other women who ride, to ask a lot of questions and get the real deal answers from
girls that know what’s up, in a fun atmosphere,” says Walsh.
The evening will showcase products and services specific for women such as hardware, outerwear, and what’s hot on the
streetwear scene; how to take care of your gear, how the mountains will meet women’s needs; what to look for, questions
to ask and things to think about before shopping. With exclusive deals, giveaways, prizes and nibbles and drinks the
evening is poised to be a hit.
At the end of the evening girls can expect to make informed decisions on products and riding, meet new friends to ride
with, and increase their confidence when carving their first tracks this season.
“The snow industry in New Zealand and worldwide is innovative and has a lot to offer the girls. The mountains have great
selection of programs specifically for ladies, and all the brands are continually pushing their limits to make riding
for women better. We are fortunate to be in the position to pass this knowledge onto women where they can take that
information to get the most out of there riding everyday,” Walsh says.
