New Zealand’s Top Four Tradies to Become TV Stars
After a gruelling one-day competition amongst 12 of New Zealand’s best tradesmen, the Country’s top four has been selected to compete in the Jack of All Trades TV series.
The Field Days in Hamilton played host to the Jack of All Trades National Qualifying event and after a number of fast-paced action packed challenges including building letterboxes, grinding and painting at the Field Days, the top four contenders are;
• Glenn Crowe, 37 years old, builder from Tairua
• 46 year old Adrian Spurr, a carpenter from Glenfield, Auckland
• Christchurch builder Geoff Atkinson, 28 years old
• Young builder Will Mason from Hamilton, the youngest competitor at 21 years of age.
The final four tradies will now face the ultimate challenge - building an eco-cabin from start to finish in only seven days. Every aspect of their work will be under great scrutiny, not only from the judges but from the New Zealand public with the challenge being filmed and on air on TV One in early September.
The four men will all compete to win a brand new Ford Ranger stacked with all the gear a bloke could want as well as the ultimate bragging rights of New Zealand’s ultimate Jack of All Trades.
Judge Dan Saunders said: “It was a very close competition on Saturday – with some very innovatiive approaches to design and nailing! But we were also taking into consideration quality, saftey as well as time factors.
“The top four blokes are all very worthy contenders for the tiltle of NZ’s Jack of All Trades. The TV series is where the real pressure and challenge is set – to build a one bedroom eco cabin that is up to council and building inspection in only seven days –that’s a mighty tall order and will certainly sort out the men from the boys.”
The television series is set to go to air on September 6th at 4pm on TV One.
