St John will train more than 1000 people nationwide in CPR in one dayat partnership launch

On Wednesday 18 June St John will lineup more than 1000 year 12 and 13 studentsand teachersin 10 communities around New Zealand ina nationwide initiativeto train more than 1000 people in CPR in one day tohelp save lives.
St John is making CPR the focus of our annual Appeal Week next week, and tomorrow will announcea major new community support relationship which will enable usto increase ourwork for the good of communities around New Zealand.A further initiative to significantly increase the number of members of the public learning life-saving skills with St John each year will also be announced.
Details of the announcement,as well as startling statistics around cardiac arrest and CPR in New Zealand,will be revealed. Local heroes who have been either survivors or saviours during a cardiac arrest incident will be available for interviewsin some locations.
Media are invited to attend this visually and emotionally compelling event. St John extends the CPR training offer to media wanting to brush up on or learn important CPR skills on the day.
Experienced St John first aid tutors will teach CPR at one-hour training sessions at 10 locations throughout New Zealand on Wednesday 18 June 2008at the following schools:

TheSt John Appealtakes place during St John Week, which begins on Sunday 22 June 2008 and runs to Saturday 28 June 2008. Appeal envelopes will be delivered to 1.2 million households around New Zealand from Monday 23 June 2008.
