Mary J Blige Australian And New Zealand Tour Postponed Until November 2008
For Immediate Release – Friday 6th June
With great disappointment Chugg Entertainment today announced that the highly anticipated Mary J Blige tour, scheduled to commence in Perth on Tuesday 10th June would be postponed until November of this year.
Citing weariness from an overwhelming tour schedule, the artist’s management confirmed overnight that Mary J Blige would not be able to go ahead with her commitment to a June tour, which was scheduled to include four Australian arena shows in five days, then followed by two back to back shows in New Zealand.
Chugg Entertainment’s Executive Chairman, Michael Chugg supported the artist’s decision and agreed it would not be feasible to proceed with the tour as planned and risk health complications or undue stress for the artist. Mary J Blige’s management have confirmed that a tour will go ahead in November 2008. Full details regarding rescheduled dates will be announced at the end of the month.
Mary J Blige issued the following statement:
“I am so disappointed that I won’t be able to make it to Australia and New Zealand for the June tour as planned. I want to thank all of my wonderful fans who supported the announcement of my first tour in these countries and I can’t tell you how excited I was to come down in June and put on a show for you all - Postponing these shows has been an extremely difficult decision for me and I am sincerely sorry that I will not be able to fulfil my tour commitments, but I assure you that the November shows will be well worth the wait.”
Michael Chugg shared his disappointment at the decision to postpone the tour:
“I’m sorry to be breaking this news so close to Mary’s scheduled arrival, I know she has a lot of fans around Australia and New Zealand who were excited at the chance to see her. Mary is a superstar and I can only respect her decision. I would never want to pressure an artist to perform, and I would never want to put on a show that will be anything less than the best show the fans will see. All I can say is be patient and count the days until November, as I have no doubt she will put on show that will give you goose bumps. I’ve seen this girl perform and it’s nothing short of spectacular”.
All tickets purchased and issued for the June tour dates will be valid for the re-scheduled shows. Chugg Entertainment has advised patrons wanting a full refund to check www.chuggentertainment.com for details on the process, but strongly suggests fans hold on to their tickets until Monday 30th June when more information is released regarding the rescheduled dates.
