FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Heli Bike Twizel is back and will be better than ever!
With Discovery Tours finalising the purchase of Heli Bike Twizel on May 28th 2008, visitors to the Mount Cook and Mackenzie region in New Zealand will have access to exciting mountain biking adventures for all levels of riders starting in October 2008.
“It is an exciting opportunity to bring this once popular mountain biking experience back to life,” says Vernon Reid, Director of Discovery Tours. “This is a perfect compliment to our Alps2Ride heli bike, and with our Qualmark Visitor Activity endorsement in heli biking, participants will be assured of a quality experience”.
With the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) approved heli bike racks, riders will be able to access areas that would be difficult to get to. “Who wants to try to ride or push their bike up a 1.3 km high mountain over a distance of 17 km when you can fly up!” says Vernon. “The views up here are really amazing with the golden tussock hills, turquoise glacial lakes and Aoraki Mount Cook. And of course, you will have to ride 17 km downhill over cross country mountain bike terrain!” he says with a grin.
Heli Bike options will start with the entry level Alps2Ride at 5km, to rides over 17 km for experienced riders, plus some special multiple activity options and events. “There will be ride for everyone, and enough options so that you will want to come back to try another ride,” says Vernon.
With climate change a major issue, Discovery Tours is also implementing a number of options to ensure long term sustainability. “We will be offsetting our carbon use, and in addition working through the benchmarking process with Green Globe during the next few months,” says Vernon. “As Elayne (Director) and I have previously worked for the Department of Conservation we believe in the preservation and protection of our beautiful country, so we are constantly looking at ways to operate a sustainable business and donate some of the companies time and profit to conservation projects in the local area.”
The next few months will be a very busy time for Discovery Tours with new branding, website design and updating of Heli Bike with a provisional re-launch date of September 2008 for www.helibike.com. Anyone wanting updated information for 2008/2009 season before this date should contact Vernon or Elayne at info@discoverytours.co.nz
