New Zealand’s biggest dinner party for charity is back!
Auckland’s hottest charity event, the Chandon Supper Club, is back for its third year with more venues than ever before
including three character tables. Simultaneous dinner parties will be held at 36 venues across Auckland on Thursday 19
June, from Auckland’s top fine dining restaurants to luxury homes and the changing rooms at Eden Park.
Recognised as Auckland’s largest dinner party, proceeds from the night go to the Cancer Society. Restaurants and
caterers donate all food and service and wines are supplied by the sponsor, Chandon. Diners enjoy a glass of bubbles on
arrival and complimentary wines from Chandon and Green Point will be served on the night.
Cancer Society Auckland Chief Executive John Loof says “This event has proved extremely successful over the past three
years, raising more than $70,000 to help fund cancer research and the patient support work of the in 2007 alone.”
“Our experience reminds us of the need to celebrate life and what better way than combining fine wines, intimate
dinners, great company and mystery destinations. The event has become a fond favourite for many, with nearly all tables
from this year’s participating restaurants sold to happy patrons from 2006 and 2007.”
Loof says Chandon Supper Club prides itself on offering diners the opportunity to take part in dinner parties with a
difference.
“This year we’re thrilled to once again have the support of Anne Thorp, “The Queen of Maori Cuisine”, who will open her
home to cook a feast of Kai Moana for a lucky table of guests. Across town, twelve diners will venture below Eden Park’s
stands to enjoy dinner in the famous All Blacks changing rooms.”
Also on board for 2008 is New Zealand rock royalty, Mike Chunn of Split Enz fame, and Dave McArtney from Hello Sailor,
who will “sing for their supper” at Monsoon Poon with up-coming “Play it strange” talent Barney Chunn and Anna
MacDonald. The band will entertain diners in the restaurant’s private room with an intimate acoustic set.
With dinner over, Corporate Cabs will transport all 450 guests to an exclusive after party at a secret location. There
they will enjoy further hospitality and party into the night, with entertainment that includes more musical gems from
Mike Chunn and the “Play it Strange” musicians.
