Wellington Financial Planner Joy Durrant appointed Chair of Riding for the Disabled
New Zealand Riding for the Disabled Association Incorporated has announced the recent appointment of Joy Durrant to the
role of Chair.
Riding for the Disabled (RDA) is a charitable organisation which aims to be a leading provider of therapeutic horse
riding and associated opportunities for those with emotional, intellectual or physical disability.
The organisation relies on more than 1000 trained volunteers and has more than 50 affiliated groups throughout the
country, providing short and long term therapeutic opportunities for children and adults.
RDA knows through research and experience that being involved in the care of and bonding with animals, in this case
horses, builds a stronger sense of purpose, confidence and well being for individuals. RDA programs also help to build
core body strength and are specially tailored to the needs of participants.
RDA does not receive any significant government funding and relies on its own fund raising activities, donations and
bequests to provide vital services throughout New Zealand’s communities.
Joy is an Investment Adviser and Investment Fiduciary and brings strong governance skills to the role. She looks forward
to seeing the organisation grow in recognition and contribution to New Zealand communities.
