Ice Creams Assist The Northern Royal Albatross
The chilly weather didn’t stop visitors and locals feasting on ice creams in Queenstown today to help raise money for
the endangered Northern Royal Albatross.
As part of Shotover Canyon Swing’s Royal Albatross Day, the company’s ice cream van, Mr Ted, was stationed outside its
premises in Shotover Street encouraging passersby to make a donation in return for ice cream. All proceeds will go to
the Royal Albatross Centre in Dunedin.
Shotover Canyon Swing General Manager Matt Hollyer said there had been a steady stream of custom for most of the day.
“It’s great to see people getting behind our campaign,” he said. “Ice cream puts a smile into everyone’s day regardless
of the weather - we also hope we’re raising some awareness of the plight of the Albatross.”
Shotover Canyon Swing’s Royal Albatross Day is part of the company’s ‘I give a sh*t’ campaign which runs until mid-June.
During the campaign customers will be able to experience the Shotover Canyon Swing a second time for a $10 donation to
support the Royal Albatross Centre.
