Dalton switches boats to Cure Kids
Grant Dalton temporarily abandoned preparations for the next Americas Cup to launch the Cure Kids Last Race donation
hotline today. The public and race-goers can dial 0900 CURE K (287 35) to donate $20 to the charity. The hotline will be
open until 10pm Sunday 11 May, during this last weekend of the 2008 Cougar Marine Inex Metals Offshore Powerboat
Championship season.
To help launch the Cure Kids Last Race hotline, Dalton took the new Cure Kids Superboat for a test-drive before it
competes in the last race of the season tomorrow. Also on the water was 13-year-old Samuel Blow, who has the rare
hereditary disorder Marfan Syndrome, and the owner of the Cure Kids Superboat, Tony Coleman.
Cure Kids works to make a difference for kiwi kids with life-threatening illnesses.
The Cure Kids Superboat is capable of 200km per hour (110 knots), a little faster than the top speeds of 10 to15 knots
Dalton is used to under sail. The Cure Kids Superboat is made possible by sponsors Castrol, Propeller Magazine,
