Rugby Legend Mark Ella Announces the Establishment of a Major Rugby Tournament in Fiji
SYDNEY, May 8/Medianet International-AsiaNet/ --
Rugby Legend Mark Ella today announced the dates of a major club based Tens
Rugby tournament to be staged in the Fijian Islands.
The Air Pacific Fiji Tens will be held in Fiji between the 18th–25th
October, 2008 at Prince Charles Park in Nadi.
The tournament is open to registered rugby union clubs and will provide the
opportunity for teams from Fiji, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, US, South East
Asia, South Africa and others to compete in a holiday atmosphere and enjoy some
spirited rugby against like minded club teams from different nations.
With a total prize pool of over FJD$25,000 (approximately AUD$18,000), there
is also a great chance for clubs to turn an end of season trip into a
profitable one.
"Clubs are always on the lookout for a unique end of season experience – a
chance to play a couple of games of rugby and enjoy some of the delights that a
tropical island paradise like Fiji has to offer”, Mark said.
“The Air Pacific Fiji Tens certainly offers that and given that the whole
South Pacific Rim is in the rugby spotlight at the moment with talk of a
possible Super Rugby South Pacific expansion the Fijians are sure to put on a
good show.”
The Air Pacific Fiji Tens is endorsed by both the Fiji Rugby Union and the
Fiji Islands Visitors Bureau.
Clubs can register by visiting www.fijitens.com. Places for international
teams are limited.
