Life Flight Opens Its Doors
The Life Flight Trust is inviting all children (and adults) who love helicopters, planes, fire engines and ambulances to come to Life Flight’s Open Day this Sunday (May 4th) from 10am-2pm
There are 12 places on Life Flight’s Westpac Rescue Helicopter to be won just by attending, and plenty of activities to keep the kids happy.
Visitors can see inside Life Flight's Westpac Rescue Helicopter and Air Ambulance, meet the crew, pilots, nurses and paramedics and see the medical and rescue equipment used by the specialist teams from Life Flight and Wellington Hospital's Neonatal and Transit Care units.
There will be demonstrations by the Westpac Rescue Helicopter, Wellington Airport Fire Engines, the NZ Army Bomb Squad and the NZ Customs “sniffer dogs”. Spokesperson Anna Gilhooly says “It’s the ultimate kid’s day out for the last day of the school holidays. As well as all the emergency services, there will be rock-climbing, face-painting, story-telling and even a giant slide. Kids are also invited to come dressed as a pilot, nurse, crewperson or paramedic and be in to win some great spot-prize”.
A gold coin donation secures your entry to event, with all money raised on the day directly supporting Life Flight’s Westpac Rescue Helicopter.
Background information:
Life Flight’s Open Day on May 4th kicks off the Westpac Chopper Appeal in Wellington which runs throughout May and raises money for life-saving rescue helicopter services nationwide. To donate, go to www.haveapart.co.nz, a Westpac branch or dial 0900 4 CHOPPER.
