Anzac Day at the National Library
Four websites hosted by the National Library of New Zealand offer a unique observation of Anzac Day - those we remember and how we have paid tribute to them through time.
The first Anzac Day was on 25 April 1916, a year after the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZACs) landed at Gallipoli in Turkey during World War I.
On Anzac Day this week, we commemorate all New Zealanders and Australians who have served in a military campaign.
Images, articles and multimedia recordings of New Zealand and Australian war experiences are easily accessible on the Matapihi, Te Ao Hou, Publications New Zealand and Timeframes websites.
Matapihi provides access to the digital collections of our nation's museums, libraries, art galleries and archives. You can find multimedia content relating to New Zealand war histories and major events in the New Zealanders At War section. The site is:
http://www.matapihi.org.nz
To view an original ANZAC New Zealand Division trench plan or silent film footage of New Zealand soldiers in France and England during World War I, go to:

The Te Ao Hou website is the digitised version of the bilingual magazine published by the Maori Affairs Department between 1952 and 1976:
http://teaohou.natlib.govt.nz
It contains articles relating to the 28th (Maori) Battalion and other New Zealand war stories:

Publications New Zealand provides a record of New Zealand publications listed in the National Bibliography, from books to films to maps. Use it to get information about published items with a strong New Zealand connection, and see which libraries have these publications:

Timeframes offers selected New Zealand and Pacific images from the collections of the Alexander Turnbull Library, the research library within the National Library:

Note to picture editors: Generally, you would be required to request permission to use images from Timeframes but if these three pictures are of sufficient resolution for you to download directly, you may assume that has been granted. Please include the reference number, as well as acknowledgment to the Alexander Turnbull Library, alongside each image.
