Bubble Trouble Snubbled
Dunedin, New Zealand
Everyone loves a big bubble bath - whether its children playing in mountains of foam or an adult slipping into a luxurious bubble bath to wash away the the stresses of the day. Yet making a mass of bath bubbles is not as easy as it appears in the movies. Often parents have to resort to using their arms as human water turbines in an often forlorn effort to generate a few more bath bubbles...until now.
Inventor Brent Wilson recalls the "eureka" moment when the Bubblecone was born "I was at a friend's house and his 4 year old son was pleading for a bubblebath. My friend tried to stir up the water to make bubbles (while still trying to talk to me and finish a drink!) but is was a bit of a washout, excuse the pun, much to the disappointment of his son. That got me thinking there has to be a better way, and the idea of a cone just popped into my head."
The Bubblecone also protects children from knocks and burns on the taps and makes a handy cup for rinsing shampoo from a child's hair but its in bubble making that the Bubblecone excels.
"A lot of the research and development was done at home in our bath. My now 5 year old son gave alot of great feedback while we were designing it and now he's the spokes-model in our photos!" said Brent. "He made up alot of games involving the masses of bubbles in the bath - bubble castles, bubble caves, bubble volcanoes, bubble hair, bubble ice creams, bubbleballs, bubble clothes, bubblesnow and bubble bombs to name a few."

About Vanilla Design Store: Vanilla Design Store is an online business selling modern furniture and homewares. It was started in February 2008 by Brent Wilson and Mark Colley and is based in Dunedin, New Zealand. The founders met when Brent was a business coach with Kickstart (www.kickstart.net.nz) helping Dunedin tertiary students start their own businesses. They identified that the talented product designers in Dunedin and elsewhere were developing interesting and useful products but lacked the opportunity to promote their offerings to a wider market.
