Set to hit your television screens this weekend is TV2’s new creative content-driven youth show, I AM TV.
Gabrielle Paringatai and Olly Coddington, former presenters for long-running TV2 programme Mai Time, will be the key
reporters for the hour-long show.
Screening at 10am on Saturday mornings from April 12th, the show will see the reporters travelling around Aotearoa New
Zealand, tracking down interesting young people and seeing what they’re into and what they get up to, from city centres
to rural outposts.
The first few episodes of this brand new hour-long show see the reporters Gabrielle and Olly heading down to the capital
city, Rotorua, Whangarei and to Hamilton. Gabe catches up with Dancing With The Stars champs Temepara George and Stefano
Olivieri; we get a look at American Football Porirua-style; we’ll chat to musicians and check out alt.youth culture
activities such as gaming.
The show is made up of field items and interviews, interspersed with music clips and creative content pieces. Viewers
are encouraged to connect with the programme-makers via our Bebo site – www.bebo.com/iamtv, where they can make
comments, vote on polls, and upload video clips. Good clips may even make it to the show itself.
Says Gabrielle of the new programme and Bebo site, “we wanted to give rangatahi around Aotearoa a site where they could
feel free to get involved. We know that rangatahi Maori have the skills to make great content for Bebo and YouTube. Now
they can showcase their clips on the I AM TV Bebo site and potentially also on our show.”
Olly agrees. “I AM TV is about interaction. A Maori show that not only gets out there and puts rangatahi on the screen,
but lets them put themselves on screen too. That’s awesome!”
Check out I AM TV this Saturday, and every Saturday, 10am on TV2 – or have a look at our Bebo site, leave a comment,
