Jim Beam Racing Heads To Hamilton
Jim Beam Racing arrives in Hamilton, New Zealand this week for Round Three of V8 Supercars as the most recent round
winner of the Championship.
A drought breaking victory at Eastern Creek and a two car top ten result at the Australian Grand Prix in March see Jim
Beam pairing Will Davison and Steve Johnson with heightened expectations when they arrive at Hamilton's brand new street
circuit, something both drivers are ready to deal with.
Davison stormed to his maiden race and round victory at Eastern Creek Raceway last month on his way to becoming V8
Supercars' newest round winner, an ominous sign he will be a contender this season with a renewed confidence to Dick
Johnson's team.
"Obviously with a round win comes the increased expectations from the outside, but internally we expected to be running
top five this year consistently so that hasn't changed at all from our perspective," explained Davison.
"Jim Beam Racing has come on in leaps and bounds this year and we are improving all the time, personally I love street
tracks so I can't wait to compete at a brand new event in Hamilton."
Johnson is also eager to hit the track at Hamilton and after a strong showing at Clipsal's street circuit in round one
he is keen to produce some of the same results in New Zealand this weekend.
"We have had some very impressive results this year, both cars have showed great speed and we expect some of the same
results in Hamilton," said Johnson.
"It's going to be very interesting to see how teams go about taking on a new street circuit; no one has raced at
Hamilton before so we are venturing into a bit of the unknown but I can't wait to hit the track."
A new street circuit awaits Davison and Johnson in Hamilton, and while the drivers will do the business out on the
track, it will very much be a team effort from Jim Beam Racing.
"We will walk the track with the engineers in Hamilton to get a feel for what we think will be the best set up, it's
going to be challenging for all teams first up this weekend," explained Jim Beam Sporting Director Adrian Burgess.
"We have a big job ahead of us to work as a team and ensure we come up with the right formula to get another good result
this weekend.
"We had great speed from both drivers at the street circuit in the opening round at the Clipsal 500 so we are confident
both Steve and Will can get a result in Hamilton."
