Burgerfuel Joins The Earthrace
BurgerFuel is proud to announce its partnership with the Earthrace team as sponsor of their world record attempt to circle the globe. They will be launching from Valencia, Spain on April 27th 2008 as they look to beat the current powerboat record for circumnavigating the globe in 74 days, 23 hours and 53 minutes.
Sharing the BurgerFuel passion for speed, creativity and kiwi ingenuity, Earthrace will be fueled by 100% renewable bio-diesel with a net zero carbon footprint, in a similar manner to BurgerFuel’s own OSCO bio-diesel project which refines cooking oil from its store network to make bio-diesel that powers the BurgerFuel internal delivery system.
“We feel that the Earthrace team, their passion and commitment to success along with their dedication to upholding environmental values make them the perfect fit for our first international sponsorship. They’re another Kiwi-developed outfit looking at taking on the world, just like us, so we want to get behind them” says BurgerFuel Managing Director, Chris Mason.
Peter Bethune, Kiwi founder and skipper of Earthrace, “The whole crew is really excited about having BurgerFuel on board. It was great to find out that BurgerFuel were big Earthrace fans because I’ve been a big fan of them for a long time! We love it when we can get a great company that’s going places to come along for the ride and get behind us like BurgerFuel has, and I am particularly pleased to have a company from home coming with us!”
Earthrace has attracted media attention from around the globe and supporters will be able to receive updates on progress via the web at www.burgerfuel.com and via TV3 news. You can also follow the boat’s progress throughout the record attempt via live tracking on www.earthrace.net.
