Quarterly Update On Programme Commissions
In the second quarter of the current financial year (October to December 2007), TVNZ committed just over $3.4 million in Direct Government Funding to six documentary or factual series and one special interest programme.
Direct Government Funding is granted to TVNZ to allow the production of programmes that would not be made in a wholly commercial environment. The Company reports quarterly on programme commissions made with the funding. It also reports in the Interim and Annual Reports on all Direct Government Funded programmes that have been screened in the preceding six months.
Direct Government Funding commissions for the three months to the end of December are listed below:

Programme: Birdland Genre: Documentary/Factual Duration: 7 x 30 mins Production Company: Great Southern Television $ committed: $192,500
Programme: The School of Success Genre: Documentary/Factual Duration: 3 x 1 hour Production Company: Greenstone Pictures Ltd $ committed: $165,000
Programme: Piha Rescue Genre: Documentary/Factual Duration: 10 x 30 mins Production Company: South Pacific Video Productions $ committed: $495,542
Programme: The Town New Zealand Saved Genre: Special Interest Duration: 1 x 1 hour Production Company: Te Reo Television $ committed: $15,000
