Tribute To Sir Ed
As a tribute to the late Sir Edmund Hillary - and coinciding with the date of the memorial service in his honour at Windsor Castle Stratos Television, Triangle Television Auckland and Triangle Television Wellington along with a number of other regional channels will broadcast the extraordinary film account of Sir Ed's ascent of Mt Everest - The Conquest of Everest - on April 2 at 9.30pm.
This Oscar-nominated documentary, made in 1953, gives remarkable insight into the drama, the teamwork and the human detail of Sir Ed's extraordinary expedition, and includes rare film footage from other mountaineers' previous attempts in the 1920s.
