Sharpen Up For New Zealand’s Biggest Quiz Night
A night of fun, excitement, a world record and fundraising looms large on May 24th with the ASB Challenge – New
Zealand’s Biggest Quiz Night.
The quiz night is the largest single gathering of quiz-goers ever seen in New Zealand and it is an official attempt to
break the Guinness World Record™ for the world’s 'Largest Quiz'. Combining all the traditional elements of a typical
pub, club or corporate quiz night, the ASB Challenge will take quiz nights to a whole new level.
“New Zealanders seems to love attending quiz nights, watching quiz shows or playing quiz games and this event gives
Kiwis the opportunity to not only participate in the biggest quiz night ever, but they can also help raise funds for
charity and claim a world record for New Zealand in the process,” says event coordinator Gregory Stewart.
“Along with our main sponsors ASB, Barfoot and Thompson and GEON Printco, it is very exciting to see New Zealand’s
Biggest Quiz Night attracting such tremendous support from the corporate sector, many of whom who have booked tables for
their staff and clients,” he said.
One of the main objectives of the ASB Challenge is to raise funds to assist the Rotary Club of Auckland with their
various community projects. The live and silent auctions run throughout this event will benefit a major project of the
Rotary Club of Auckland – the TYLA (Turn Your Life Around) programme.
“I’m delighted that ASB are continuing our proud 160 year heritage of community support with this fundraising initiative
for Auckland Rotary,” says Hugh Burrett, managing director of ASB.
“What's more, the ASB Challenge is capturing the imagination of colleagues and customers alike who are greatly looking
forward to testing their general knowledge skills and breaking a world record in the process!"
The Quiz Master for the evening will be Jackie Clarke, who will provide in excess of two hundred tables of eight the
opportunity to compete for the first prize of $4,000. There will be eight rounds, each with ten questions and the night
will conclude with a performance from Debbie Harwood.
Currently the largest quiz ever held at one location was attended by 1,566 participants as part of 'T.I.M.E Aqua Regia
The Science Quiz' organised by the T.I.M.E (Triumphant Institute of Management Education Pvt. Ltd) at Hari Hara
Kalabhavan, Hyderabad, India on 3 December 2007.
