Dizzee Rascal Confirmed To Headline The MTV Mile High Gig
SUPPORTING DIZZEE WILL BE KIWI HIP HOP HEAVY WEIGHT SCRIBE
Tickets go on sale March 14 from airnewzealand.co.nz
On Wednesday March 12 2007, MTV New Zealand announced that UK hip-hop sensation DIZZEE RASCAL will be headlining the MTV Mile High Gig 2008, in association with Air New Zealand. This unique themed flight will also see New Zealand’s own SCRIBE performing at 37,000 feet en route to the MTV Australia Awards 2008.
“Last years event was totally off the hook! During performances from Goodnight Nurse and The Dukes we drank the plane dry, chair danced ‘til we dropped and became part of rock ‘n’ roll history on the highest in-flight concert EVER” said MTV New Zealand Marketing Manager Pip Jamieson “Adding Dizzee and Scribe to the mix will take the event to a whole new level!”
Dizzee Rascal is one of the hottest new stars of the urban scene with a reputation for incredible live performances. He recently stole the show at Big Day Out in Auckland where he kept even the faint hearted dancing in a frenzy in the Boiler Room.
The MTV Mile High Gig departs Auckland for Sydney at 5.30pm on ANZAC day, Friday April 25. Tickets to this once in a life time experience go on sale Friday March 14 from airnewzealand.co.nz. With last year’s MTV Mile High Gig selling out in less than 6 days (an Air New Zealand record) fans will need to get in quick to be part of the action.
The exclusive seats not only include a pre-flight gate party and mid-flight performance from Dizzee Rascal but passengers also receive a ‘money can't buy’ ticket to the MTV Australia Awards and a ticket to the VIP after party on Saturday April 26. Passengers must be over 18 to be eligible for the MTVAA and VIP after party tickets.
The MTV Australia Awards 2008 will air exclusively on MTV, channel 60 SKY Digital, Monday April 28 from 7pm. This year’s show will be staged at the Australian Technology Park (ATP) in Sydney and will break the VMA mould by expanding into award categories honoring music, FILM, television and sporting stars.
Further MTV Australia Awards talent will be announced in the coming weeks.
