Alan Gibbs to open call for nominations
Sir Peter Blake Trust is proud to open nominations for the 2008 Sir Peter Blake Leadership Awards at a Trans-Tasman Business Circle event on 5 March, with guest speaker, the renowned New Zealander, Alan Gibbs.
Nominations for the 2008 awards will be accepted until 31st May and entries from a range of sectors and industries are welcome and encouraged.
“The Sir Peter Blake Leadership Awards aim to make a positive difference to our country by celebrating leadership development. The 2007 recipients came from a range of sectors including science, teaching, sport and health,” says Vicki Watson, general manager of the Sir Peter Blake Trust.
The Blake Medal is awarded to acknowledge and celebrate one outstanding New Zealand leader every year. An accompanying set of awards, the Sir Peter Blake Emerging Leader Awards, are presented to six people recognised as younger leaders of considerable potential.
Mr Gibbs, founder and chairman of Gibbs Technologies Ltd and a legendary New Zealand entrepreneur, is delighted to be able to support the Sir Peter Blake Trust through the Trans-Tasman Business Circle.
“Sir Peter epitomized Kiwi leadership at its best. The Trust is doing a superb job of continuing his legacy in this area, and through its environmental work. New Zealand has great leaders toiling away and achieving remarkable things – we need to celebrate this,” says Mr Gibbs.
Five other events will be held around New Zealand with guest speakers including Brad Cooper - CEO of Westpac; 2007 Blake Medalist Paul Callaghan; and Martin Snedden - CEO World Cup 2011. These speakers will be supported by former recipients of the Emerging Leader Award.
