FEMALE OF THE SPECIES casting:
Brooke Williams has been cast in the role of Molly Rivers in Joanna Murray-Smith’s hilarious comedy, FEMALE OF THE
SPECIES. In a scenario inspired by a real life incident endured by Germaine Greer, Molly bursts into the fashionably
famous feminist author Margo Mason’s (Elizabeth Hawthorne) country home and holds her hostage at gun point.
Williams made her debut with Auckland Theatre Company came in THE CRUCIBLE where she was acclaimed by audiences and
critics a like for her portrayal of Mary Warren. She was last seen on stage with ATC in THE PILLOWMAN.

WHO NEEDS SLEEP ANYWAY? casting:
Johnny Bright and Sophie Henderson have been cast as the young parents in Roger Hall and Pip Hall’s WHO NEEDS SLEEP
ANYWAY? The two young singer/actors will make their Auckland Theatre Company debuts with the show.

BLACKBIRD casting:
Michael Hurst has been cast in the role of Ray in David Harrower’s BLACKBIRD. Hurst is one of New Zealand’s most
celebrated actors and in 2005 became a Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to theatre. Most recently
Hurst has appeared in Auckland Theatre Company’s productions of GOLDIE, THE DUCHESS OF MALFI and THE PILLOWMAN.
