Plucky Southerners Bare All in Du-Nude-In
"This is not a beauty contest it is a celebration of all that's real!"
That is the essence of the MORE FM promotion How To Look MORE Good Naked, and the people of Dunedin have embraced it with open arms.
A billboard of the top 15 competitors (that were randomly selected from the over 60 entries) will be unveiled today at Andersons Bay in Dunedin and MORE FM says they have been blown away by the response.
"We never imagined that Dunedin would react quite the way it has," says Grant Millman Programme Director of MORE FM in Dunedin. "We have the most amazing cross section of people who are all appearing on the billboard for their own personal reasons. We have teachers, tradesmen, Mums, Dads and even a woman who is eight and a half months pregnant!"
"Whilst competing for $10 000 worth of prizes from Arthur Barnett, a lot of the Œbillboard superstars' simply wanted to do something that is a little out of the ordinary and "live a little."
One How To Look MORE Good Naked billboard star says they are having a ball.
"Damian and Nicky (the MORE FM Breakfast Announcers), have stressed right from the beginning that it is about feeling good, and boy do I ever!" says letter H on the billboard.
Not wanting to make their listeners do something that they wouldn't, Damian and Nicky got the ball rolling by getting their own clothes off (and appearing on their website) to make people feel more comfortable.
"We would never ask them to do something we wouldn't do ourselves, so it was a no-brainer really", says Nicky.
Dunedin will now vote one contestant off each day until we are left with the one person who will have their very own naked photo on the billboard in front of 19 000 cars per day.
"We are so proud of all of the people who entered, but more importantly, they are proud of themselves and that is the most important thing," says Millman.
Look MORE Good Naked runs through until the end of March.
