Drambuie Announces Sponsorship Of Golf Event
Drambuie has today announced its sponsorship of the New Zealand Qualifying Tournaments for the BMW Golf Cup International 2008 – one of the largest and most prestigious amateur golf tournaments in the world.
An exclusive, invitation-only event, the BMW Golf Cup International attracts golfers from around the globe and provides a mix of hot competition and social interaction.
An expected 1,400 participants will be involved in the 13 Qualifying Tournaments around New Zealand. Winners of the local Qualifying Tournaments advance to a National Final, and national champions in each category will advance to the BMW Golf Cup World Final to be held in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The exclusive event has gained momentum and status since its inception 20 years ago. Introduced in 1988 with just 11 countries participating, the 2007 event attracted more than 100,000 of the best amateur golfers from up to 50 nations. The contest is split into three divisions: Men A (for handicaps up to 12), Men B (for handicaps 13-28) and Ladies (for handicaps up to 28).
Drambuie Brand Manager Jacqueline Nichols says she is delighted to announce Drambuie’s sponsorship of the BMW Golf Cup International.
“Drambuie has had a long association with golf including sponsoring the World Ice Golf Championships in the artic circle! So it very fitting that Drambuie is involved prestigious event such as this,” she says.
