Time to get Creative!
Youthline invites young people get creative in the 2008 Youth Art Competition.
With the brief to redefine relationships, the art competition invites local youth to explore their relationships with themselves, their peers, their families, and their communities and how these positively influence their lives.
“We want young people to tell us about their experience of how they interact in the community, which is sometimes quite different to what adults or society might think,” says competition organiser Nao Guy.
The competition is open to all New Zealanders who can create as many entries as they like using any 2D media including paint, photography, print, collage or sketch.
There are three prize categories for junior, senior and tertiary/community entrants, with a digital camera, art supplies, and an ipod up for grabs.
The competition closes March 31st and top entries will be exhibited and used for Youthline promotional material.
“Youthline’s aim is to create communities that support young people to achieve their potential. The competition gives young people from all backgrounds a chance to come together to create art, express what it means to be a young person and be acknowledged for their contribution,” says Youthline national spokesperson Stephen Bell. Entry forms can be found at www.youthlineco.nz.
