Anticipation Soars as World-class Chinese Spectacular Comes to Auckland in April 2008
"I have never seen anything like it in my life. If they come back I am definitely going!" ―  Auckland composer Estelle Diana Protheroe Cook
Leading a renaissance of genuine Chinese culture the Chinese Spectacular brings about a revival of the myths, legends, and divine beauty of ancient China - a culture that once made China the “Land of the Divine.”
The New York-based performers use expressions of Chinese classical dance to evoke themes of pure truthfulness, pure compassion, and pure beauty through stunning costumes, magical choreography, and grand stage design.
The Chinese Spectacular is the largest overseas Chinese cultural production in the world. This season, a live audience of over 650,000 people will attend more than 200 shows in 65 cities worldwide. Crossing all language and cultural boundaries, the Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular reaffirms the beauty and importance of traditional values and Chinese culture.
The show’s designers and choreographers spent years researching all of these elements in order to bring back the traditional culture of China that was almost completely destroyed during the Cultural Revolution.
Internationally the show is drawing high praise by media, politicians, and music executives. http://www.bestchineseshows.com/audience-feedback
