New Tennis Development Manager for Central Region
Charlie Cordwell has been appointed regional development manager for the Tennis New Zealand’s central region.
Charlie brings a wealth of experience, from both a tennis and commercial background, to the newly created role. He will be responsible for the participation element of tennis, supporting clubs, volunteers and staff in the lower North Island.
“I’m excited about the role,” he said. ”It’s a great opportunity to utilise my experience in tennis, sales and marketing, and business development to benefit tennis in the region.”
Charlie’s tennis experience encompasses more than 20 years association with the game. He spent ten seasons playing premier tennis in Wellington with regional one sides Karori Lawn and Vogelmorn. He also captained the Kohimarama Caro Bowl team and was a Wellington representative three times.
Charlie holds a New Zealand Professional Tennis Coaching certificate and spent ten years coaching, including stints in Australia and New Zealand and on tour with sister, Belinda Cordwell.
Charlie comes to Tennis New Zealand from RPNZ Ltd (an online company established to sell property information to the Real Estate industry) where he was the national sales manager.
Charlie’s appointment caps an exciting few months for the Tennis New Zealand’s central region, which recently appointed Clint Packer to the role of Regional Performance Coach.
