Bon Jovi Smashes South Island Record
And Is The Biggest Touring Concert
Of The Summer!
30,641 Bon Jovi Fans Attended The Sellout Concert In Christchuch’s Ami Stadium Last Night.
Capital C: Concerts has it’s second sell out concert over the summer holiday period, firstly with a capacity audience in
New Plymouth with Elton John in December and now the huge concert by American Super band BON JOVI who played in the
South Island for the very first time.
Fans were treated to an ‘hour of power’ by Christchurch group ‘The Valves’ who have solidified their position in the
ranks of NZ’s fastest chart-climbing band. What followed was a stunning two and a half hour feast of classic Bon Jovi
punctuated by the new songs of the Lost Highway Album.
Promoter Phil Sprey stated that the choice of taking the one-off NZ Bon Jovi concert to the Garden City had proved to be
the right call. ‘We had the opportunity and with the North Island having been flooded with concerts,
Christchurch was ready for a treat and they responded.”
He went onto say the band was interacting and enjoying playing to the audience that much that they caught everyone by
surprise by adding on multiple encores. ‘With the city putting on a fine day and the band completing another section of
their successful world tour, they were ready to make sure that NZ was one of their more memorable performances. And they
did just that.”
With full hotels, full airline flights and an influx of out-of-towners the concert is estimated to have brought in over
$15 million dollars into the city economy.
Will Bon Jovi be back? Yes it’s only a matter of when.
