1.. Mount Everest was conquered for the first time in the history by Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing on May 1953.
2.. Probably the first stamp after conquering Mount. Everest was issued in India on 2nd October 1953 , there were two
stamps.
3.. Rare of the the rare , the only first day cover in the world , which has autographs of both Sir Edmund Hillary and
Tenzing, and documented :-
a.. Birgadier D.S. Chowdhry , now staying at Poona , tel no 09820422405 , then a student of Lawrence school , Sanawar ,
upon joining army presented his collection to his brother Karanjit Singh.
b.. On 20th January 1961, Karanjit Singh 14 years old , a student of Delhi Public School Mathura Road when . Tenzing
accompanied with Brig. Gian Singh , also a mountaineer , visited his school. A day prior to his vis, the Principal
announced that those students desiring to get his autograph are to bring their autograph books next day , and Karanjit
took the first day cover for his autograph on the stamp of the first day cover.
c.. Around 1998 , Nanki Singh ,daughter of Karanjit Singh , then a student, got the autograph of Sir Edmund Hillary ,
when he visited India . (Evidence: Photograph with Sir Hillary attached). Earlier Sir Hillary was Ambassador to India ,
but Karanjit and family were staying overseas.
4.. In 2003 , fifty years celebration of the conquest of Mount Everest, Karanjit and family visited Khatmandu and got
the autographs of all famous Mountaineers , who climbed Mount. Everest and incude:
a.. Peter Hilary ,son of Sir Hillary .

c.. Reinhold Messner from Italy , known as greatest Mountain climber of all time , and has climbed all fourteen 8,000
Mts mountain , and first to climb Mount Everest without oxygen.
