Absolutely Brilliant Weekend for Prizewinner
Frank Lynch of Riccarton Park in Christchurch did not class himself as a motor race fan before last weekend's Lady Wigram Trophy race meeting in Christchurch. However after winning a competition held in The Press, Christchurch's major daily newspaper, he is keen for more of the sport particularly if Andy Knight and the Milwaukee Power Tools Toyota are competing.
Milwaukee Power Tools are the major sponsor of Knight, the current leader of the Toyota Racing Series, and Frank was the lucky winner of a fantastic prize package the company contributed for the competition. Frank's prize consisted of some team apparel plus a weekend as a guest of the company along with lunch in the Toyota hospitality area.
Frank loved it. "It was absolutely brilliant. Rob Deed of Milwaukee looked after me so well, he was brilliant. The hospitality area was great, what a fantastic view. It was a real bonus meeting Andy - he signed my cap and some pictures - he's a great guy, a young fellow absolutely full of life."
As well as the racing Frank was impressed with the tent where the Milwaukee Power Tools were displayed. "The gear was very impressive. I couldn't believe the use they were getting from their battery powered tools.
Andy made Frank's day even better with some great results, racing to a third place and then a win in the first two races of the day. Unfortunately in the feature race the car would not run cleanly and Andy dropped through the field. Frank noticed the problem straight away. "I'm no mechanic but the car sounded flat." However Andy and the Milwaukee Power Tools Toyota still lead the Toyota Racing Series as they head to the New Zealand Grand Prix this weekend. Meanwhile Frank was back at work on Monday with his new Milwaukee Power Tools / Knight Motorsport gear. "Everyone was very impressed," he says.
Asked if he will be back at the track in the future Frank says, "I might return, particularly if Andy is racing."
