New series El Tigre premieres 24 January 2008 on Nick NZ - Spaghetti Western Meets Latino Telenovela
His father is a superhero; his grandfather is a super-villain. Someday Manny Rivera will have to choose which side he's
on. Until then, he'll use his powers for good, for bad and mostly for fun in Nickelodeon's newest animated series, El Tigre: The Adventures of Manny Rivera, debuting on Nickelodeon (SKY channel 41) at 5pm on Thursday 24 January 2008.
Nickelodeon's first Flash generated comedy series, El Tigre: The Adventures of Manny Rivera, follows 13-year-old Manny (voiced by Alanna Ubach of Meet the Fockers' fame) who must choose whether to use his
superpowers as El Tigre for good, or for not so good. Manny is a well-meaning kid who lives with his father and
grandfather in Miracle City, a spicy urban melting pot full of colorful heroes and dodgy villains.
Manny's father Rodolfo is a semi-retired superhero who wants Manny to grow up to be good and honorable just like him. On
the opposite end of the spectrum, his Granpapi is a retired super-villain who thinks Manny should join him on the dark
side. While Manny remains undecided as to which path to choose, he seeks out exciting ways to enjoy life and have fun
with his impulsive best friend Frida. Frida is feisty and loyal, but not always the best influence on her friend and the
two of them typically get into a fair amount of strife together.
When Manny spins his mystical belt buckle, he transforms into the brave and powerful masked warrior, El Tigre. As El
Tigre, he has the great spirit of a hero but also possesses the potential to be a great villain.
Drawing from the popular Latino telenovelas, the storylines include exaggerated comedic situations and outrageous
recurring characters. El Tigre is a laugh-out-loud adventure showcasing a sumptuous blend of animation, where the
spaghetti western meets 'Day of the Dead' Latino folk art in the fictitious Miracle City - a magical place of beauty and
excitement juxtaposed with a spicy underbelly of crime and villainy.
El Tigre: The Adventures of Manny Rivera brings a totally new look to the Nickelodeon line-up of animated hits for kids. Tune into Nick (SKY channel 41) from
Thursday 24 January 2008 @ 5pm for a taste of what you get when you mix a comic book style superhero with Latino spoof
