MC Mystro (UK) to Visit NZ – With 8 Piece Latin Funk Outfit
MC Mystro is set to touch down here in the new year for a whirl wind tour. Mystro is teaming up with London 8-piece band Son Veneno to play at the Jambalaya Festival in Rotorua, 4th-6th January, bringing with him his blistering lyrical style for the first time in NZ.
Familiar to many for his appearances on P-Money's latest album and video "Who You Gonna Blame", MC Mystro is now a central figure on the UK Hip-Hop scene. NZ fans get to see Mystro himself, live in action mixing up latin jazz funk sounds of Son Veneno with the raw urban sounds unique to his take.
Son Veneno are gaining massive praise in London, after moving there from Australia. The band hooked up with Mystro in Aus, and now they tour regularly together – a partnership that has gained them a serious following in the UK in only a short 2 years.
With urban music selling so well, it was surely only a matter of time before 'UK Hip-Hop' was dragged from the doldrums. Mystro was one of the instigators.
"Son Veneno are amazing musicians man. It's a pleasure to play with them. And what we do together is fresh – latin, jazz, hiphop – its all in there," says Mystro.
MC Mystro is influential with big names in the UK music scene because of his distinctive style. It has been described as a rugged, straight-up style of in-your-face observations, deep thoughts and provocative punch-lines.
Jambalaya, New Zealand's 'Festival of Rhythm and Dance and Carnival', January 4-6, will be held at the Rotorua Energy Events Centre where a grand, carnivalesque village is being created to hold worlds of entertainment. Jambalaya delivers one of the most eclectic and captivating events on the festival calendar, catering to all age groups, launching the year with energy, festivity and cultural enrichment. The festival will culminate in a massive street carnival parade.
A festival pass includes access to all concerts, dance and circus shows, percussion, dance and circus workshops, all night dance parties, kids' zone and international market stalls. Tickets can be purchased directly from www.jambalaya.co.nz , www.ticketek.co.nz, and Real Groovy Stores.
