Carols in the Park 2007
Families and friends are encouraged to share the spirit of the festive season with others in Laurie Hall Park this Thursday at 6pm for the annual Carols in the Park, presented by the Whangarei District Council & Northland’s Classic Hits.
Thousands of people are expected to pack the Laurie Hall Park for the Christmas spectacular. Over 60 performers including children, teachers, volunteers, technical personnel & sponsors have contributed to bring the Carols in the Park to life.
Craig & Jax of the Classic Hits Breakfast show will be taking care of MC duties to bring you a great night of entertainment. This year we’re lucky to have great home grown talent including Hatea Kapa Haka, Holee Cow Productions students with Maria Satterfield, young soloists Simon Watson, Emily Hermon & the winner of the Classic Hits talent search competition, Sydney Heremaia. Sydney has just completed a season at the Whangarei Theatre Company playing Richie Valens in the Buddy Holly story.
Also returning this year is the Whangarei Primary School choir. The students have been rehearsing with music teacher, George Karklins for two months in preparation for Thursday night. They will be joined by some of NZ’s finest female talent - Jackie Clarke, Suzanne Lynch, Tina Cross & Taisha - The Lady Killers.
Santa of course is due to attend - arriving in style as always as well as all the traditional things that make Christmas “Christmas”. Carols in the Park will give Northlanders the chance to sing their hearts out to their favourite festive tunes, so bring the family along & we’ll see you there!
Carol songsheets will be given out on the night and glo bangles and candles will be on sale. Food and drink will also be available from various stalls.
