It’s Grand Final Time on Maorioke!
The waiting is almost over! After weeks of tension and nail biting nerves along with five fraught semi-finals, it is grand final time on Maori Television’s popular nationwide talent show MAORIOKE this Friday December 14 at 8.30 PM.
The final is an extended show of 90 minutes and the seven finalists get to perform with a live professional band. There are 10,000 good reasons to win this competition – the prize is all cash up front.
The finalists are: Shaun Tata (Bay of Plenty); Purcell Taka (North Shore, Auckland); Lissel Stewart (Christchurch); Paiheretia Aperahama (Wellington); Bernadette August (Bay of Plenty); Rudolph Diaz (Christchurch); and Lance Kiwi (Bay of Plenty).
In addition to announcing the finalists on last Friday’s show (Dec 7), presenters Kingi Biddle and Cushla Tangaere announced the category winners with a $1,000 cash prize for each.
They were: Best R’n’B/Hip Hop – Mark Tohinui (Auckland); Best Pop/Rock – Kiri Heads (Southland); Best Country and Western/Old School – Peggy-Joe Mitai (Hastings); Best Kiwiana (NZ) – Lissel Stewart (Christchurch); and Best Waiata Reo Maori performance – Huia Clayton (Bay of Plenty).
