Discover how a 17 Year Old Is Bridging the Gap Between Parents and Teenagers (book out of print 20/12/07)
Russian-born Wellington teenager Eva-Maria has officially kicked off the 10-day-presell of her upcoming book ‘You Shut Up!’ aimed at parents of teenagers. Her mission is to help improve a million parent-teenager relationships all over the world in the next 12 months. The book is to be published just before Christmas, making it the ideal present for any parent – whether they will, or already have teenagers.
The first few days of pre-sell to friends, family and the NZ School community proved to be a real success with schools all over the country supporting the young author and actively pre-ordering the book.
Eva’s speculations of parent-teenager conflicts and how they can be resolved with a win-win outcome have come from many years of mentoring and coaching teenagers all over the world through one-on-one, or group talking, TXTing, e-mail, over the phone, and instant messaging.
“Sometimes I can change a person’s entire perspective of a conflict just by spending just 15 minutes with them. I thought if that’s enough, I could definitely minimize generational conflict between people, and even families. A book sounded like the perfect way to get this information out there. I can guarantee I mean every word I say in the book because this has been my life for the past few years, so it all really means a lot to me.” says 17 years old graduate from Wellington’s Athena Montessori College.
After finishing NCEA Level 3 halfway through Year 12, Eva-Maria has dedicated her time to compiling a book to help parents understand why, what and how teenagers think, and how to act in any conflict that may arise between a parent and teenager. Her knowledge is invaluable to any parent, and has the potential to reduce conflicts and arguments in any household where parents and teenagers are present.
A NZ book release is the first step towards Eva’s goal of improving one million parents-teenager relationships. Over 10% of book proceedings will be going to a special teenage orientated project Eva and her team are developing now. Find out more at www.youshutup.co.nz
