Get exclusive Christmas gifts at Toi Pōneke
The gallery at Toi Pōneke, Wellington Arts Centre will welcome art lovers and shoppers alike on 1 December, when studio artists sell their work.
A broad range of artworks, including lots of unique jewellery pieces, will be on display throughout the gallery. All will be for sale, and prices are expected to range from $35 to $500.
The sale gives Toi Pōneke artists an opportunity to raise some Christmas cash at the end of the year, and Wellingtonians the chance to support local art and find unique and one-off artworks for friends and family.
“It gives us the chance to focus on something new for the new year and also engage with potential buyers for our work. I think shoppers will be spoiled for choice with the variety of stuff for sale,” says Toi Pōneke artist, Elisabeth Vullings.
A total of 14 artists are now picking through their year’s work as well as creating new pieces for the sale.
Annie Collins, Natalie Keegan, Sophie Lewis-Smith and Vaune Mason will have jewellery for sale.
Sandee Hjorth will sell wrapping paper and cards, while Naomi Lamb will have badges for sale. The rest of the artists – Emily Buttle, Naomi Clements, Vincent Duncan, Linda Gilbert, Dee Guja, William Hedley, Bruce Mahalski, Elisabeth Vullings and Nicholas Mitchell will sell their paintings.
Some of the artists will be there on the day, and able to discuss their work with visitors to the gallery.
The sale starts at 10am on Saturday 1 December and will run until 5pm that evening, providing works are still available for sale. Keen gift seekers are urged to get there early.
