Dirt Champs On Again In Rotorua
The country's karters get a chance to try their skills on a speedway oval on Saturday as the Rotorua Karters club hosts the 2007 New Zealand Dirt Championships in association with Auto Cool Air Conditioning and MoreFM at the Paradise Valley Raceway
Racing round a speedway ovals calls on a whole new set of skills for KarterSport racers, both in terms of chassis set up and driving style.
This year's event has attracted entries from all over the country as well as Australia, with Brian Briton who is a member of the New South Wales Speedway Kart Club, making a special trip across the Tasman for the event.
A number of former dirt champions are returning for this year's event with local kart and now Stock Car driver Paul Mabey expected to feature in the Senior 1200cc Yamaha heavy class.
The club is running seven classes at the meeting from Cadet to Open.
Testing starts at 1.15pm on Saturday afternoon with racing expected to start at 3.30pm.
