Beowulf: An IMAX 3D Experience
OPENS THURSDAY, 29 NOVEMBER
Prepare to journey back to a time of legendary heroes. On Thursday, November 29, at SKYCITY Cinemas IMAX Queen Street, moviegoers will experience the epic tale of Beowulf told as never before - in stunning IMAX 3D.
Beowulf has been converted into IMAX 3D and re-mastered into the unparalleled image and sound quality of The IMAX Experience®.
The unique theatre geometry of SKYCITY Cinema’s IMAX theatre combined with crystal clear, larger than life 3D images and 12,000 watts of digital surround sound creates an environment that puts the audience in the movie. The IMAX® screen is 19.92m high by 27.3m wide, with a surface area of 544 square metres.
Moviegoers will be transported inside the film to experience the action, heroism, and bravery of Beowulf brought to life. Beowulf: An IMAX 3D Experience will debut concurrently with the nationwide 35mm releases on November 29.
SKYCITY Cinemas General Manager, Matthew Liebmann, says, “The IMAX version of Beowulf is incredible - the 3D is better than anything else, and the sound is awesome. The IMAX 3D images come off the screen and right into the laps of the audience - it really is in-your-face excitement.”
The film’s director, Academy Award-winner Robert Zemeckis, said, “IMAX 3D has enabled us to tell stories in a whole new way, and we are very excited to offer moviegoers a chance to experience Beowulf in this incredible format.
“IMAX lends itself to the incredible image detail in Beowulf and in 3D it will transport the audience directly into the story.”
In a time of heroes, the mighty warrior Beowulf slays the demon Grendel and incurs the wrath of its monstrous yet seductive mother in a conflict that transforms a king into a legend.
Groundbreaking director Robert Zemeckis offers a vision of the Beowulf saga that has never been told before “Beowulf,” stars Ray Winstone in the title role and Anthony Hopkins as the corrupt King Hrothgar, as well as John Malkovich, Robin Wright Penn, Brendan Gleeson, Crispin Glover, Alison Lohman, and Angelina Jolie as Grendel’s mother. Neil Gaiman (“Mirrormask, the graphic novel,” “Sandman”) & Roger Avary (“Pulp Fiction”) adapted the legend for the screen.
Tickets to Beowulf at IMAX are on sale now. SKYCITY Cinemas IMAX is situated at 291-297 Queen St, Auckland. For information and show times, phone 09 302 0002 or visit www.skycitycinemas.co.nz.
