Popmatters.com says that Kelley Stoltz's music is a trippy, happy, slapdash sprint through pop history, nodding to paisley-clad influences like later Beatles, Beach Boys, Syd Barrett, and Nick Drake. Stoltz produces delicate musical beauty that recalls the simpler days of life and music, with a twist of wit.
Stoltz’ Sixth release and first album to indie dear-hearts Sub Pop, ‘Below The Branches,’ was considered ‘one of the stand out releases of 2006’, and got plenty of listeners excited in the US, Europe and Australia.
The album was also the first record in music industry history to be packaged with the Green-e logo, promoting the use of renewable energy. Stoltz tracked his electricity use and with the help of the Green-e program, offset the all the electricity used to record his record with green tags from the Bonneville Environmental Foundation.
His live shows are intimate and entertaining. Stoltz brings with him a swag of tricks. Including intense, positive energy, and the occasional bubble machine too.
Most recently Stoltz has been touring with The Raconteurs, playing Lollapalooza in Chicago and touring extensively in the UK. He has also made his debut as a producer, working in the studio with San Francisco bands The Passionistas, The Moore Brothers, Bart Davenport and Colossal Yes.
